We had a top rink of Jillian Jennings, Jon Jarrett and John Lee who won by 23 shots v 7 shots.

Parkinsons Event
Last Friday, the 10th of September, members of Parkinson's UK attended what has become an eagerly awaited event, a chance to see how good they are on the bowling green. For the 6th year running we were invited to use the full facilities of the Welwyn & District Bowls Club with its bowling green arguably the finest in the county.
In spite of waking up to heavy drizzle the sun was shining by the time that Jenny, who organised the food, together with Club members Sue and Les put their beautifully prepared meal in front of us. Arthur manned the bar, and Pauline ran the raffle which produced 50.
By the time we had done justice to the meal, which included homemade Treacle Tart, the sun had dried the green enough to play. The Green Keeper, Chris Sherriff had laid out various courses and obstacles for us to practice upon and provided two wheelchairs with wide tyres for those who could not bend low enough.
The Welwyn club have a very strong team and have two trophies in the show case with two more finals to be played. And here they were allowing us to trample all over their beloved green.
Not only that but Club President Di Barratt and Men's Captain, John Lee and Club Secretary Mike Poole, together with members of their committee spent all afternoon down on the green fetching balls which seemed to have a mind of their own as they head for the nearest ditch.
All too soon the time had come to have a cuppa, pop our pills and take a rest. For those who gave of their time, a heartfelt cheer, be assured that we are very grateful to you all.

Ladies against Townsend
In a match of three triples away against Townsend,  Welwyn Ladies won on all three rinks, with an overall score of 49-28. The highest winning rink of Olive Perry, Gillian Jennings and Mary Clements won by 22 shots to 7.

Chris Read writes ....
Well done team....we finished the season on a high with a victory over Bishops Stortford on both rinks tonight, and 6 points.
Overall therefore we finished 4th with 51 points - a very creditble performance and just a couple of wins short of promotion to the top division.
A big thank you from me to you all for your continuous support and enthusiasm. I know I enjoyed it throughout and hope you all did too. Maybe next year we really can go one step further and win the division 2 championship.

Bob Vise disappointment
In the "Bob Vise" trophy final Welwyn finished in secind place for the second year running
We lost the singles and the triples, but won the pairs and the fours. However overall we were still eleven points behind, so Potters Bar were the winners.
